Dr. Caroline Leavitt, a native of Atlanta, is a Licensed Psychologist in the State of Georgia. She earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology (with honors) from Washington University in St. Louis, MO. She then received a Juris Doctorate Degree from Columbia University, where she was a Harlen Stone Fiske Scholar and was the Editor-in-Chief of the Columbia Journal of Environmental Law. Dr. Leavitt worked as an attorney for a brief period and then returned to Columbia University and received a Master’s Degree in Applied Clinical Psychology from Columbia University Teachers’ College. After working for The Center for Child Well-Being, an affiliate of Emory University, she began her doctoral studies at Georgia State University. Dr. Leavitt graduated with a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Georgia State with a specialization in children and families. She also was one of three recipients of the dissertation of the year award in the College of Education for her dissertation, “Having It All – Mother’s Experiences as Assistant Professors in Counseling Psychology Academia”. Moreover, Dr. Leavitt completed a Pre-Doctoral Internship and a post-Doctoral Fellowship before becoming licensed as a psychologist.
Dr. Leavitt currently practices as a licensed psychologist in Woodstock and Roswell, Georgia. Her areas of specialization include play therapy, attachment theory, parent consultation, mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, personality disorders, psychoeducational evaluations, and women’s issues. Dr. Leavitt also has specialized training in parenting coordination, co-parenting counseling, reunification therapy, and assisting children and their families navigate divorce. She regularly works with Guardians Ad Litem, attorneys, and the courts to support families and children during difficult and stressful family transitions.
Dr. Leavitt is currently a member of the American Psychological Association and The Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.
